 On Saturday, March 10, 2018, the law firm of Simmons Rogers, LLC will co-sponsor its fourth free legal clinic at the historic Mount Zion Baptist Church of Albany, Georgia from 9 am - 12 pm. The first free legal clinic of 2018, this quarter's legal clinic will focus on family law and cover the most common family topics such as adoptions, child support, child custody, and divorce.
Maya Simmons Rogers will moderate the panel of volunteer lawyers. The panelist include local family attorneys: Henry E. Williams, a local attorney and former Terrell County probate judge, and Valerie Brown-Williams, a local attorney and member of Mount Zion. Following the panel session, the panelist and other lawyers will provide free one-on-one family law consultations. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The first seminar will be hosted by the Institute for Paralegal Education ("IPE") and the remaining 2 hosted by the National Business Institute ("NBI").
The first is a video webinar, being broadcast from Altoona, Wisconsin today starting at 10:30 am eastern standard time, for paralegals entitled LLCs From Start to Finish for Paralegals. Maya Simmons Rogers, will be presenting with Melody H. Demasi, an attorney with Briskin, Cross & Sanford, LLC in Alpharetta, Georgia, and T. James Lee, a shareholder and director of Fennemore Craig, P.C. in Phoenix, AZ. During the webinar, Maya Simmons Rogers will discuss differences between LLCs, S corporations, C corporations, and partnerships. Additionally, she will review the initial steps to take before and how to file the Articles of Organization. Gross, general counsel for Taylor English Duma LLP, and others at the National Business Institute’s (NBI) Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Seminar entitled “A Primer on Advising Directors and Officers on Corporate Governance” at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, GA.
